Adult Entertainment studio Pink Visual announced today that Pink Visual President Allison Vivas will be taking part in a panel discussion entitled "Profiting in Adult: The Recession is Over" at the South by Southwest Interactive (sxsw.com/) festival in Austin, Texas on March 13.

Her appearance at the SXSW festival is part of an ongoing campaign on the part of Pink Visual to develop inroads into the realms of mainstream entertainment and technology, Vivas said.

"We believe that in order for our company to continue to grow and thrive, we have to establish brand presence outside of the usual channels of exposure for adult entertainment companies," Vivas said. "Obviously, that's a tricky thing to do when you distribute an age-restricted product, so our means of gaining that exposure is rooted in the way we use and develop technology, in our business-to-business relationships and in the way we relate to the media. South By Southwest represents an excellent opportunity to continue to communicate the fact that Pink Visual is not your typical porn company."

As Vivas gears up for her appearance at SXSW, Pink Visual is preparing to launch its latest forward-thinking product, a new cloud-based content distribution platform called PVLocker.com. In contrast to the subscription model that Pink Visual's other adult sites employ, through PVLocker consumers will pay for a video file once and have access to that file in perpetuity going forward, without ever paying an additional fee.

While superlatives and exaggerated claims of novelty are commonplace in discussions of technology, the real distinguishing characteristic of PVLocker is the business model behind it. In an article previewing the product, Greg Sandoval of Cnet.com noted that as the first production studio to explore cloud-based distribution with a single-payment purchase model, "Pink Visual could help determine whether these cloud services are a slice of heaven or just vapor."

Vivas said that her company doesn't mind being the test case for a new business model, one bit.

"We've always been willing to experiment, to go out on a limb," Vivas said. "Sometimes there's nothing but a long fall waiting for you out at the end of that limb, but other times there's sweet and profitable fruit. One thing is for sure; you'll never know if there's fruit out there if you insist on staying in your comfort zone, hugging the trunk of that tree."

Vivas will be joined on the SXSW panel by Connor Young, President of YNOT Group, LLC (www.ynot.com), Jay Kopita, the Director of Operations for the adult industry trade conference YNOT Summit (www.ynotsummit.com), Kathee Brewer of Daily Babylon and Michael Brandvold, owner of Michael Brandvold Marketing (www.michaelbrandvold.com).
